Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow, UK, posted on behalf of Prof.
Karen Vousden - please respond directly to her as indicated.

SENIOR GROUP LEADER IN STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY
BEATSON INSTITUTE FOR CANCER RESEARCH

The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow is one of the UKs
leading cancer research centres. It is core funded by Cancer Research UK
and supports high quality research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer
development. To answer the growing demands of our mission we are
constructing a new Institute building (due for completion early 2007),
which will allow a significant expansion over the next few years.

As part of this new development we are inviting applications for a Senior
Group Leader to develop and head a programme in Structural Biology. We
are looking for an innovative scientist to both run an independent
research programme with a focus on cancer biology, and establish and build
this new initiative in Structural Biology which will include further
recruitment of a junior Group Leader with complementary interests. We
expect these scientists to have an interest in participating and
contributing to the vibrant scientific environment at the Beatson
Institute, which includes cell and molecular biologists pursuing areas
such as cell motility, signal transduction, apoptosis, cell cycle, DNA
repair and small molecule modulators of protein function.

The Beatson Institute provides outstanding equipment and core services,
including FACS, confocal, video and TIRF microscopy, DNA sequencing, IT
and proteomics. Successful applicants will play a key role in the
development of a new initiative to build a structural biology programme
incorporating an X-ray crystallography laboratory. In addition to the
supportive and collaborative environment at the Beatson Institute, the
Structural Biology groups will be encouraged to develop strong
interactions with established protein crystallography groups at Glasgow
University.

This is a tenured position, which comes with substantial core funding
(including staff and consumables). We are hoping to attract an experienced
expert in the field, and will offer an attractive total package. To learn
more about the Beatson Institute please visit our website at
www.beatson.gla.ac.uk. You can also write directly to Prof. Karen Vousden
(Director) by email at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

To submit an application, please provide a CV, a brief description of
research achievements and future plans and the names of three referees.
Applications should be received before 1st December 2006.
