Have all crystals ready (pre-mounted in canes) and transfer them quickly !

We make it a three-person job, one takes notes, one removes the vail from the canes and dumps it into a small bowl containing LN2 and the third person trnasfers the crystal into the cassette. I personally don't use their mounting device but the Hampton magnetic wand with eject button - for me this works much faster (and I will soon be flammed by the SSRL guys for doing so).

Have enough LN2 ready to refill the blue foam container and keep refilling it. A full 96 cassette should not take more than 20 minutes to fill up in this setting. When you are used to it you can do it in 15 minutes.

Hi,

We are preparing a remote data collection at SSRL. Last time, we had
icing problem when we load mounted crystals into the sample cassette.
Any tips to reduce or prevent it are very welcome.

Thanks in advance!
