Dear Liz, Stuart and CCP4ers,

I just want to say thanks to Liz and Stuart for CCP4MG - I really like this program, and its already well documented! It becomes more and more my favorite program for making pictures from protein structures, both on Linux and Mac OS X.

Thanks a lot!

Dirk.

Hello CCP4bb,

CCP4mg 1.0 is now available for Windows/MacOSX/Linux from

http://www.ysbl.york.ac.uk/~ccp4mg

and is part of the auto-download from CCP4.

The main new features:

A Movie interface which creates movies without scripting. Besides moving
the camera (rotating, rocking or zooming between chosen views) you can
move models, change electron density level, change object transparency.
See the on-line documentation for more information

http://www.ysbl.york.ac.uk/~ccp4mg/ccp4mg_help/movies.html

Animations can be played and saved to a movie.

A neat interface for using CCP4mg in live presentations.
Prettier ribbons with fancy edges and different 'inside helix' colour
2D sections through maps.
Better handling of clip planes, lighting styles, loading large numbers of
models.
Documentation in PDF format

Please give it a try and we will be pleased to hear your comments.
If you have problems please check the appropriate Diagnostic Pages for
your operating system and let us know.

Liz & Stuart
