To the CCP4 community,

Does anyone know of a good reference describing the preferred coordination
geometry/environment of common metal ions, sodium in particular? Specifically,
I am interested in which elements are preferred as bonding partners, the
coordination number as well as bond lengths and angles. The Cambridge
Crystallographic Database is a great resource for structural precedents, but is
less useful for determining the most favorable coordiation
geometry/environment. Thus far, I have not found an inorganic chemistry book
that comprehensively desribes this information either.

If anyone knows of a good textbook reference, that would be great, but I am
also looking for journal articles relating to sodium or other common ions (e.g.
alkali, alkaline earth, and/or transition metals).

Thank you very much,
(Summary e-mail to follow),
