Procmail gives total flexibility in sorting and filtering email using a syntax that is reminiscent of grep, sed, and awk. The resulting files are compatible with the IMAP protocol, so that one can continue using your current email client and store email on the server. Notably, procmail forms the bedrock of famous anti-spam packages, such as SpamAssassin. Now that I am using procmail, I could never go back to the old way, and procmail will reliably remain a part of *nix distributions for generations to come. Regards, Michael L.
