Post Doctoral Fellowship in Structural Virology

The newly established structural virology lab within the Molecular Virology and Vaccines Branch of the Influenza Division at the CDC, Atlanta is seeking applications for a Post Doctoral Fellow to work on the crystallographic structure determination of viral and interacting host proteins to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of replication, host cell response and viral evolution through a structural approach.

Targets will include integral membrane proteins and viral proteins that interact with host. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and interested in biochemistry and structural biology. The position will require experience in crystallographic techniques including MAD/SAD, data processing, phase determination and improvement, model building, and protein structure refinement. Additional experience in protein expression/purification from bacterial, baculoviral and mammalian expression systems is also preferred.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently, but integrate well within a team utilizing a number of diverse genetic and biochemical approaches.

The position is available May 2007 and salary will be commensurate with experience. Applicants should send curriculum vitae, a brief summary of previous research experience and the contact details of three references to:
