Post Doctoral Positions in Structural Biology at the University of Toronto

Post Doctoral positions in structural biology are available at the
University of Toronto and the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC). The
positions consist mainly of utilizing high-throughput technologies to design
constructs, purify samples, and crystallize proteins from targeted human
proteins. In addition, fellows conduct follow-up experiments and initiate
external collaborations in order to advance our understanding of the
molecular function, biological role, and/or therapeutic potential of these
proteins. Available for assistance if needed are various in-house resources,
including 1) a molecular biology team that performs cloning and mutagenesis,
2) a biophysics group that characterizes catalytic and binding properties of
proteins and performs limited library screening, and 3) a protein
crystallography group that phases and refines crystal structures and assists
in pursuing follow-up structural studies. Examples of proteins that are
currently being targeted include those in the ubiquitylation system as well
as proteases and tyrosine kinases involved in signal transduction.

The SGC is a non-profit partnership with a mandate to solve and publish
structures of medically relevant human proteins. Since its inception in
2004, the SGC has promptly and freely deposited 425 structures into the PDB
and made coordinates and materials & methods for these structures available
to the public without restriction.
