POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITIONS

STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY

UNIV. OF PITTSBURGH

Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available in my laboratory within the
Department of Structural Biology at University of Pittsburgh. Our research
is mainly focused on structure determination of macromolecular assemblies
using cryo-EM and image analysis methods, including single particle
analysis, 2D electron crystallography, and particularly cryo-electron
tomography. One position is open to study HIV and host cell interactions
using cryoEM methods. We are one of NIGMS Center for the Determination of
Structures of HIV/Host Complexes and this position is supported by the NIH
center grant. The second position is open for study of structure and
function of chemoreceptor signaling complex in bacterial chemotaxis, as well
as complexes involved in chromatin remodeling.

The laboratory is fully equipped for all aspects of molecular biology and
protein biochemistry and has direct access to FEI Polara 300kv with helium
stage, TF20 FEG, both with high-resolution 4kx4k CCD cameras, T12spirit with
2kx2k camera, and FEI vitrobot. The laboratory also has access to the
protein expression and purification facilities, state-of-the-art NMR
spectrometers and X-ray crystallography instrumentation, as well as the many
biophysical, imaging and computing resources within the department.

Motivated candidate with strong interest in structural biology of complex
molecular assemblies and solid background in biophysics/physics/material
science are all encouraged to apply. Research experience in the following
area(s) is plus: 1) cryo-EM, 2) image processing and/or 3) protein
biochemistry/biophysics.

Potential candidates should send a PDF including a cover letter, curriculum
vitae with list of publications, and names of three referees to:

Peijun Zhang, email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Applications will be reviewed as they are received and until the position is
filled.
