Dear colleagues, We have an opening for a PhD student to join us at the new X-ray crystallography unit of the School of Biological Sciences, University of Liverpool.
This is a 4-year PhD Studentship funded by BBSRC. The candidate will work towards understanding the mechanistic events that take place in muscle during adaptation to force and its links to human disease. He/She will apply the full range of techniques required for the structural elucidation of macromolecules by X-ray crystallography, namely: cloning, protein expression and purification, crystallization, X-ray data collection, computational approaches to model calculation and model interpretation using bioinformatic tools. In addition, the School counts with excellent NMR infrastructure, opening a range of possibilities to combine NMR and crystallographic approaches. Further details on this position can be found under http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~mayans/Site/Vacancies.html The project suits a biochemist/molecular biologist with strong interest in structural biology. Starting date: October 2008.
