POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY
Postdoctoral positions are available in the Macromolecular Crystallography Laboratory, National Cancer Institute (NCI), Frederick, MD, USA ( http://ccr.cancer.gov/staff/staff.asp?profileid=5861). Our group is involved in structural and functional studies of such immunologically-important proteins as ligands of chemokine receptors (chemokines, defensins, etc.), proteins from the urokinase plasminogen activator system, and the chemokine receptors. Postdoctoral fellows should have a background in protein crystallography, but foremost an understanding of protein _expression_ and characterization. Each fellow will be engaged in work on soluble as well as membrane proteins. We have very comfortable facilities to express and purify proteins expressed in the insect cells or bacterial system. Although some of our activities involve work with bacterial _expression_ systems, a prior experience in work with Drosophila Schneider S2 cells will be a strong advantage. Our X-ray abilities are second to none, and we provide excellent opportunities to learn all aspects of X-ray crystallography. Our positions are open to recent Ph.D. recipients with fewer than 5 years of postdoctoral experience. The minimum annual starting stipend at NCI is $46,200 for new graduates, with additional increases based on previous postdoctoral experience but primarily on the performance measured by the progress in assigned projects. NCI provides full health insurance, as well as relocation benefits. Interested candidates should apply to: Dr. Jacek Lubkowski, Macromolecular Crystallography Laboratory, National Cancer Institute, Frederick, MD 21702, USA.
