Our lab recently purchased a Zeiss Discovery V.20 stereo microscope after demoing an Olympus. We also own a Leica but we aren't happy with the sales support (they can't keep a representative in our area) so Leica wasn't considered.

In my opinion the optics between the Olympus and the Zeiss are both very good and of similar quality but we went with the Zeiss because it had higher magnification, a large base option, and you don't have to reposition the body when switching from a high magnification/small working distance lens to a lower mag/high working distance one.

I'm not sure how this scope compares to the Nikon, when I was researching scopes, the Nikon wasn't being considered. If you are looking for a high end stereo microscope I would definitely check out Zeiss.

-James

On Sun, 15 Jun 2008 16:04:00 +0300
"Harry M.
