The X-ray Crystallography Laboratory in the Department of Structural Biology and Computational Chemistry at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals has an opening for a Senior Research Scientist who is interested in structure-based drug design. This position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The research will involve protein crystal structure determination with and without bound small molecules, peptides, and macromolecules in collaboration with scientists from the Biotherapeutics, Protein Expression and Purification, Molecular Modeling, and Medicinal Chemistry groups.
We are looking for a Ph.D. scientist who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and demonstrates a high level of initiative. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work on multiple complex projects in parallel are essential. The successful candidate will join a team of crystallographers consisting of six Ph.D. scientists and two crystallization research specialists. The group is equipped with state of the art X-ray facilities: an FRE-generator, two CCD detectors (Saturn92 and Bruker SMART), ACTOR crystal-mounting robot, and robotic crystallization systems (Hamilton and Packard liquid handlers, Mosquito crystallization robot, and Formulatrix crystallization imagers). The team also has regular access to synchrotron time at the APS. Applicants must have a PhD degree and a strong background in crystallography. They should have experience in guiding structure determination projects from start to finish. Preference will be given to applicants who also have a very strong knowledge of crystallographic computing. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills in order to present results effectively to an interdisciplinary team of scientists and to write patents and scientific papers. Interested candidates should forward their CVs to Joel Bard ([email protected]). Best Regards, Joel BardStructural Biology Wyeth Pharmaceuticals 617-665-5698
