I'm sending this out again, as both the questions and the deadline have changed! See email below.
Please give this some thought. To give you a perspective, the NLS community have been emailed thus. "STFC is undertaking a fundamental re-analysis of its funding priorities, with a view to laying out future plans this Autumn. This will have a direct impact on future funding for our facilities and for projects such as HiPER, ALICE and NLS. STFC’s available budget is significantly less than is required to meet its desired science programme. Hence there will likely be very substantial changes in the future." I think its obvious that no response from our community would not help our case. Similarly, the BBSRC has opened its "Strategic Plan 2010-2015" for consultation, the deadline is 14 September. see http://www.bbsrc.ac.uk/organisation/policies/reviews/consultations/0907_strategic_plan.html For those of you who might consider yourselves too far down the food chain to bother, don't forget this is your future! Some PIs may not read all of CCP4BB all the time, so it could be worth bringing this up in lab meetings. Best wishes, Peter Peter Moody 1/56 Henry Wellcome Laboratories University of Leicester Lancaster Road Leicester LE1 9HN UK tel. (0)116 229 7097 fax. (0)116 229 7084 Dear Advisory Panel member (copied to PALS Committee for information) I am writing to advise you that as a result of comments by the facility directors, and by the advisory panel chairs when the exercise was being drawn up, the office has agreed to amend the web consultation questions to make them more appropriate for facility users. The questions now diverge from the questions being asked of the PPAN community. The facility directors have been emailed the links to the revised questions (they are the same links as before) and they will shortly be sending emails to their users and encouraging them to make a return. Here are the links for your information: http://www.stfc.ac.uk/forms/nap.aspx http://www.stfc.ac.uk/forms/pap.aspx Please note that as a result of the revision we have also extended the deadline for returns to 20 August. I know that some of you have emailed subsets of the community with a request to complete the questions, you may wish to resend your email or I can send them a note if you let me have the circulation lists. As of today we have only received one return and we will contact that person to bring the change to their attention and apologise. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
