Structural biology of DNA transfer through the bacterial cell envelope.
Description
A 3 years post-doctoral position is available to work on the
structural biology of DNA transfer systems used by Gram-positive
bacteria during DNA exchange processes such as conjugation and natural
transformation. A strong emphasis will be placed on the purification
and structural characterization (using X-ray crystallography and/or
electron microscopy) of individual components and protein complexes
isolated from conjugation systems found in Staphylococcus aureus and
Enterococcus faecalis.
Candidates should have a PhD and proven research skills in molecular
biology, in membrane protein biochemistry and in X-ray crystallography
or electron microscopy. The position will be available early 2010 and
the starting date will be decided in agreement with the selected
candidate. The appointment will be financed by a grant from Institut
Pasteur.
