Faculty Position in Structural Biology

The Department of Biological Sciences, Purdue University, invites applicants 
for a tenure-track faculty position in Structural Biology associated with the 
Lucille P. Markey Center for Structural Biology 
(http://www-structure.bio.purdue.edu/). We are particularly interested in 
applicants with programs in structural biology of viruses, membrane proteins 
and large cellular complexes.

Purdue University and the department (http://www.bio.purdue.edu/) are committed 
to expanding structural biology research utilizing new laboratories in 
Hockmeyer Hall of Structural Biology, completed in the fall of 2009.  The 
successful candidate will have available outstanding, staffed facilities for 
X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, and cryoelectron microscopy/electron 
tomography, and will interact with colleagues in many disciplines and 
interdisciplinary centers on campus.  Advanced imaging analysis and biophysical 
instrumentation are available at the neighboring Bindley Bioscience Center and 
the Birck Nanotechnology Center.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and at 
least 2 years of postdoctoral experience. We expect to fill academic year 
appointments at the Assistant Professor level, but appointments at the 
Associate level will be considered.  The successful applicant is expected to 
conduct research in structural biology to address fundamental questions in the 
areas listed above; teach undergraduate and/or graduate students, and 
participate in ongoing programs in the Department of Biological Sciences.
