Scientist of Structure Biology Job Description and Responsibilities: We are seeking highly motivated x-ray crystallographer in our Structural Biology Department at the level of senior Scientist or Scientist depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for providing protein crystallization support for a gene-to-structure team working towards structure-based drug design. You are also responsible for writing standard operation procedures, reports and reviews, presenting seminars and interacting with clients regarding work performed, while preparing abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for scientific meetings and publication. Qualified candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary and team orientation environment. Qualifications: PhD or equivalent in structural biology, biophysics, or related discipline and preferably 2 -5 or more years of experience in protein X-ray crystallography. Experience with crystallization, X-ray data collection, crystal structure determination and refinement is desired. Familiarity with basic biochemical and biophysical methods to characterize proteins and protein purification is highly valued. Experience on supporting an iterative structure-based medicinal chemistry program is an asset. Required Skills: Must be a good team player with independent thought/creativity in science with strong communication skills. Hands-on experience in protein crystallization, cryogenic techniques for freezing crystals and structure determination by X-ray diffraction (MR, SAD, MAD). Experience in analyzing and presenting the structural data gleaned from the structure determinations especially protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions.
