A postdoctoral position is available immediately for a highly motivated
individual to study structures and functions of proteins and protein
complexes involved in assembly and genome packaging of DNA viruses such
as human herpesviruses and bacteriophages by means of X-ray
crystallography and electron cryo-microscopy in the laboratory of Dr.
Liang Tang at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, University of
Kansas (http://www.molecularbiosciences.ku.edu/faculty/tang.html). The
position is funded by NIH. The laboratory has easy access to a Rigaku
RU-H3RHB X-ray generator with an R-axis IV++ imaging plate system and a
200kV FEI transmission electron microscope equipped with field emission
gun, both located on campus. The successful candidate must ideally have
a recent Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field with a strong
