current wide screen dominant world, the other toolbar takes too much

No, not yet (not the toolbar that is horizontal). We have plans this
year to tweak the interface for small screens and also manipulate
buttons and molecules by devices other than a mouse.
Consider starting coot with --small - that is designed to help out with
short screens [1]

for a reasonable price these days? So far I have not discovered any...
