Responsibilities include purification of proteins for X-ray crystallography, with a focus on membrane proteins. Work closely with other Amgen scientists in the design of protein constructs, expression of these constructs in bacterial, insect, and mammalian hosts, characterization of the purified proteins, and the application of the purified proteins in crystallization screens. Basic Qualifications Finalizing or completed Doctorate degree OR Master's degree and 3 years of directly related experience OR Bachelor's degree and 5 years of directly related experience Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree in a biological science and at least two years of directly related experience in academia or industry OR Master's degree and at least 6 years of directly related experience Background in general biology with a solid working knowledge of protein biochemistry Extensive experience in the purification of ion channels and/or G-protein coupled receptors for crystallography.
