Dear Protein
Crystallographers
We have recently downloaded and
installed the CCP4 suite Version 6.1.13 for Mac OS X.
To access it we go to My Applications and open the file:
Applications/ccp4-6.1.13/ and then double click on the ccp4 logo.

The first thing to appear is a warning message: “you
are the first person to run this version of ccp4i and it is trying to
automatically configure and save information to the file
/Applications/ccp4-6.1.13/share/ccp4i/etc/unix/configure.def but you do not have
permission for this directory. Please get the person who installed CCP4i to run
and configure it. It is OK to continue running ccp4i.”

So we click on “Dismiss” and this brings up the
standard ccp4 window. Then if we try opening General Help we get another
warning: “CCP4 Interface warning: Apparently failed to open /Applications/ccp4
6.1.13/docs/ccp4i/help/guiframset.html/in hypertext viewer "firefox"
Last
error message
Unable to find application named 'firefox'
Check the CCP4i configuration
Look for Hypertext Viewer under Configure
Interface options in the System Administration menu.”

Again
if we try opening this System Admin window we get the first warning message
above.

We
also tried running Refmac but get similar problems when trying to create a
project directory.

Can anyone please advise?

Thank you,
