Postdoctoral Fellow in Ubiquitin Biology

Description:

The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), Toronto, is seeking a talented and
self-motivated PhD scientist to study the structure, function, and mechanism of
HECT-type E3 ubiquitin ligases and ubiquitin-specific proteases. The successful
candidate will utilize the established high-throughput structural biology
(HTSB) platform in SGC and biochemical/biophysical techniques to investigate
the specificity and regulation of the enzymes.  S/he is expected to make
primary contribution to publications in high quality peer reviewed journals.
This position will be co-supervised by Prof. Cheryl Arrowsmith, and is
available immediately and open until filled.

About SGC:
SGC is a research organization focusing on understanding the structure and
function of proteins of medical relevance and generating corresponding
biological and chemical reagents to study their cellular functions and
potential as therapeutic targets. SGC is jointly funded by public funding
agencies and industry. The HTSB platform in SGC provides access to high
capacity prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems, state-of-the-art
protein purification and crystallography facilities, and is supported by
cloning, crystallography, biophysics, chemistry, and antibody engineering
teams.

Universityof Toronto:

SGC provides a stimulating and friendly working environment in the heart of the
University of Toronto and its affiliated hospital research institutes. Together
these institutions comprise one of the largest and most productive centers of
biomedical research in North America. The city of Toronto is ranked fourth in
the World’s Most Liveable Cities, and second in Cities of Opportunity in 2011.

Qualifications:
The candidate requires a PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, or a related area
with practical experience of protein purification. 0-2 years postdoctoral
experience is preferred. Knowledge in structural biology (X-ray crystallography
or NMR) is an asset but not required.

Contact:
Interested individuals please send a current CV (including contacts of three
referees) and a cover letter to Dr.Yufeng Tong at [email protected] with
the term “ubiquitin” in the subject line.
