Tried upgrading to vmware workstation v8? Compat guide : http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=software&testConfig=17 says that v8 works with RHEL6/CENTOS6 as the host OS. VirtualBox is a decent alternative if you don't want to pay.
