The Prehoda Lab at the University of Oregon has an opening for a postdoctoral
fellow with a background in protein crystallography. The successful applicant
will investigate the mechanisms of protein domain evolution, in part by
determining the structures of proteins from 600 million year old resurrected
genes. In addition to structural studies, the project entails the use a diverse
set of functional studies to characterize these ancient proteins (for examples
of these techniques see Johnston et al. Cell 2009 and Johnston et al. PNAS 2011
which can be found on our lab website
http://molbio.uoregon.edu/~prehoda/pubs.html ).

The scientific environment at the University of Oregon is outstanding. The
Prehoda Lab is part of the Institute of Molecular Biology, one of the most
established interdisciplinary research institutes. The University is located in
Eugene which lies at the southern end of the beautiful Willamette Valley. The
reasonable cost of living and ample opportunities to experience the outdoors
make the quality of life very high.

Interested applicants should send an email describing their previous research
experience and their CV to [email protected].
