A Postdoctoral Fellowship is available to join the
BM14<http://www.bm14.eu/>MAD MX beamline team

at the ESRF, Grenoble, France.


EMBL Grenoble operates the ESRF BM14 beamline under a MoU with the
Department of

Biotechnology of India (DBT) and thus provides access to both European and
Indian MX communities.


We are seeking to recruit a motivated postdoctoral fellow experienced with
synchrotron data

collection and phasing methods to support BM14 users.


On the in-house research side, the successful candidate will be offered to
join the structural studies of

Toxoplasma gondii epigenetic machinery that we conduct in close
collaboration with Dr Hakimi,

(Grenoble Medical University). His team has shown that the parasite
possesses a sophisticated ‘histone code’

rivaling those described in higher eukaryotic cells (Sautel et al. MCB,
2007; Bougdour et al. J. Exp. Med, 2009).

Several protein targets with potential relevance to the T. gondii disease
mechanisms have been highlighted.

These proteins offer exciting opportunities for novel discoveries because
of their lack of prior characterization.

EMBL Grenoble Outstation is embedded in the Grenoble Partnership for
Structural Biology (PSB),

which is a unique environment for structural biology as it provides access
to state-of-the-art facilities for

protein production, biophysical characterisation, crystallisation and
structure determination

(ESRF synchrotron, NMR, EM).


Qualifications and Experience Candidates should have a PhD and a record of
successfully working on challenging

structural biology problems. A strong biophysics background is mandatory.
The ideal candidate must possess

sufficient biochemical experience in cloning, protein expression and
purification, and crystallization.
