RA/SRA in Structural Biology Job Description Position available for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join the Structural Biology Department involved in exploring structural and functional properties of proteins of therapeutic interest. The successful candidate will be responsible for the purification, characterization and crystallization of proteins for structural analysis by X-ray crystallography, experience in crystallization, cloning, expression and use of high throughput methods for protein purification and characterization would be considered strong assets. Qualifications A B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry, molecular biology or related discipline and a minimum of 2 (two) years of research laboratory experience in protein chemistry and/or crystallization are required. Experience with crystallization automation and HPLC or FPLC purification systems is preferred. The successful candidate must be motivated, capable of working independently, and enjoy working in a collaborative setting. Scientific Manager Protein Expression Job Description We are looking for an experienced candidate to join the Protein Expression Group within the Structural Biology Department. He/she will participate in the management and further development of a high-throughput platform to create protein expression constructs required to explore structure and functional properties of proteins of therapeutic interest and to support protein reagent development for small and large molecule drug discovery and basic research in a core facility setting. The candidate will collaborate with other scientists within and outside the Structural Biology Department and will serve as a resource in the areas of molecular biology and design/creation of protein expression constructs in high-throughput fashion. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques (e.g. subcloning, mutagenesis, library construction, primer design, and DNA/protein sequence analysis), automatic liquid handling, and technology development is required. Familiarity with protein expression using E. coli, baculovirus infected cells and mammalian cells is a plus. Qualifications Ph.D./Post-doc in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related discipline with 5 or more years of relevant postdoctoral/ industry experience required. Candidate must be highly organized, motivated, work independently in a collaborative team- oriented setting, process-oriented, and have strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
