Advertisement of Post-Doctoral Job Position Opening in Membrane protein 
structural biology at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Summary:
A Post-Doctoral Researcher position is available in the laboratories of the 
Biosecurity and Public Health Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory.  The 
researcher in this position will work as a structural biologist in a 
multi-disciplinary team focusing on structures and functions of multi-drug 
resistant efflux pump membrane proteins and their control networks. The focus 
of this researcher will be expression, purification, crystallization, and 
structural analyses of targeted membrane proteins and their complexes.
Responsibilities will include cloning, expression and purification of natural 
and engineered versions of membrane proteins in various expression vectors, 
developing and implementing innovative protocols, and coordinating with other 
team members for crystallization and structure analysis. The successful 
candidate will work in a highly cooperative and interdisciplinary research 
environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Demonstrated experience in macromolecular X-ray structural analyses and in 
cloning, expression, purification and crystallization of macromolecules. 
Ability to work in a collaborative team.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Experience with cloning, expression and purification of membrane proteins using 
various protein expression systems. Characterization of proteins using 
biochemical and biophysical assays. Structural analyses of protein complexes.

Education, Training or Licensing:
Ph. D. degree based on X-ray crystallographic work.
