Dear Acoot, it is not unusual that crystals have an optimum period of growth, and you may get away with storing the crystal once it appeared to collect data from it.
Otherwise I recommend you think about what is happening inside the well during this day in order to further optimise the crystal quality. Take e.g. the time for equilibration into account, different vapour pressures and how you can control these things.
