Dear colleagues, A postdoctoral position is available in (membrane) protein biochemistry and X-ray crystallography in the newly established research group of Dr. Christian Loew at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Hamburg, Germany. The group studies integral membrane proteins involved in nutrient uptake by X-ray crystallography and biochemical methods.
The successful candidate is expected to have a strong interest in the X-ray structure determination of highly challenging integral membrane proteins. A variety of research projects to make optimum use of the present infrastructure for the structural biology projects are available. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in structural biology, biochemistry or a related field. Previous experience in crystallization/X-ray crystallography is a strong advantage. Experience with integral membrane proteins is an advantage, but not absolutely required. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as in a team and excellent technical, organizational and management skills.
