We're retiring our 10-year-old FRE generator (dual-port, varimax optics,
raxis IV+ detectors) -- anybody out there interested in adopting it?
Before you all shout at once: though you wouldn't pay us anything, it
won't come cheap...
* you'd need to arrange and pay for deinstallation, shipment, and
installation - to be negotiated separately with Rigaku
* you'd need lots of time: the system is offered as seen and
untested. The generator was running fine a year ago, except that it
needed a major service (>>£10k); and the detectors were not
collecting good datasets anymore, but we hadn't done in-depth
troubleshooting either (no time).
* Rigaku would want to evaluate the operation qualification - to be
negotiated with them
* Therunning and maintenance costs of the FRE series of X-ray
generator are considerable!
We'll be dismantling this by end July, unless I've had credible offers
of adoption.
