Dear list members,
I would be grateful if you could publicise a vacant postdoc position in my lab
either by posting the flyer linked below on appropriate notice boards or by
forwarding this mail to appropriate persons:
www.uni-giessen.de//cms/fbz/fb08/Inst/pflphys/pflaphygroups/ag-hughes/PDF-files/Postdoc%20flyer%202014
The text of the flyer is below.
Many thanks for your support!
Jon Hughes

A postdoc position funded by the DFG is available in the Department of Plant
Physiology, Faculty of Biology & Chemistry at the Justus Liebig University in
Giessen, Germany.
The aim of the project is to derive an understanding of the functional
mechanism underlying photoconversion and intramolecular signalling in the
phytochrome family of photoreceptors. The work relies on long-standing with the
Essen group (X-ray crystallography) in Marburg and the Matysik group (MAS NMR)
in Leipzig, both of which have already led to numerous prominent publications.
The primary role of the Giessen lab is to exploit established and novel
molecular-genetic methods to generate appropriate material for the structure
studies and to gain functional insights on the basis of further investigations.
There will also be opportunities for visiting and working directly with the
crystallography and NMR groups. For further details see
www.uni-giessen.de/cms/fbz/fb08/Inst/pflphys/pflaphygroups/ag-hughes
Candidates should be interested in phytochrome molecular biology and/or
physicochemical analysis of protein structure/function as well as the notion of
entering new scientific fields, developing new methods and making discoveries.
They should be proficient in written and spoken English and able to work
constructively in a multinational, interdisciplinary team.
Please send your application by e-mail, including a tabular CV as well as a
one-page description of how you might contribute to the project to Professor
Jon Hughes ([email protected]).
The JLU wishes to increase the proportion of female scientists and thus
especially encourages appropriately-qualified women to apply. Applications from
disabled persons will be preferred over those of their peers.
