Discussion on what runs/does not run under windows has moved me to asked is
there a somewhat preferred platform of Linux vs. OSX. I am replacing an 8 year
old Mac Pro, big silver box, as it really is slowing down comparatively
speaking and 8 years is a good run for a computer and it will get re-purposed
in the lab. I have been looking at fairly high end workstations since I tend
to keep them a while and at that upper ends it appears the prices start to
become similar. Little hard to make direct comparisons but I am looking at an
Intel Xeon, reasonable amount of memory etc.... I originally was leaning
towards a Mac Pro but given Apple's tendency to only give you outputs and
inputs of their choice I am not sure on that now. So any opinions welcome. I
am equally happy using Linux or OSX.

Cheers,
Len
