Dear all,
We are seeking a highly motivated and determined membrane protein structural
biologist for a UK research council funded position in Liz Carpenter's group at
the Structural Genomics Consortium in Oxford, to start asap.

1. Structural studies of human K2P potassium channels

  * We will build on our successful program of solving K2P ion channel
structures (Dong et al., Science, 2015)
  * The K2P channels are responsible for excitability of nerve cells and are
potential targets for migraine, pain and depression.
  * We aim to understand regulation of these channels by physiological and
pharmacological stimuli
  * You will be using synchrotron and xFEL crystallography techniques to
study the structures of a range of K2P channels
  * You will use biophysical methods to understand function and identify
novel binders
  * You would also have the opportunity to be involved in structural studies
of other potassium channels, using crystallography and electron microscopy
  * This work is a collaboration with Stephen Tucker (Physics, Oxford) and
Mark Sansom (Biochemistry, Oxford), for electrophysiology and MD simulations
studies.
  *   Informal enquires to
