Postdoctoral position in macromolecular crystallographic computing at NE-CAT, 
Cornell University

The Northeastern Collaborative Access Team (NE-CAT) at the Advanced Photon 
Source, Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral 
Research Associate to work on the development, dissemination and support of 
RAPD, a software package developed at NE-CAT for real time analysis of 
macromolecular crystallographic (MX) data.  The initial appointment is for two 
years with possibility of extension.  The starting salary will be $70,000. The 
primary responsibilities will be to participate in the development of RAPD and 
to support the dissemination of RAPD to new sites including other MX beamlines 
and home laboratories.  NE-CAT has developed RAPD, which provides indexing, 
strategy calculation, integration, data analysis, data set merging, and 
structure solution.  We are currently in the process of extending the software 
and making it available to the MX community.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements

Applicants should have a PhD in biochemistry or related field, with prior 
experience in the use of MX software for the analysis of synchrotron data.  The 
applicant should have a strong interest in computer programming, and a working 
knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C, and JavaScript. 
Applicants must have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication 
skills and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment.  Applicants should
