 Responsibilities

TheDirectorisresponsibleforoverseeingandcoordinatingallscientific,technologyandmanagementaspectsoftheVBCFcore facilitiesininteractionwiththeshareholdersandthefundingbodies.


 Main Tasks

•LeadershipoftheVBCFanddefinitionoflong-termobjectivesoftheVBCFindialoguewiththeVBCstakeholders

•Developing a common vision, strategy and objectives (technologies, equipment, human resources, budget, etc.) for the corefacilities

•Overseeingandcoordinatingthecorefacilities(includingbudget,investmentsandfinances)

•Coordinatingtechnologysharing,upgradingandscouting

•ContacttothepolicymakersforscientificinfrastructureatAustrianandEuropeanlevelandcontacttothefundingbodies

•Promotinganintegratedmanagementinformationsystem

•Representingtheplatformsinmainexecutiveandstrategicbodies

•Promotinginternalandexternaltrainingactivitiesinstate-of-the-arttechnologies

•InvolvementintheVBCLifeScienceCampusdevelopment

•Coordinatingandboostingdisseminationandoutreachactivities


 Profile

Thecandidateisexpectedtohaveabackgroundinmolecularbiology(PhDdegree),excellentorganizational,communication, leadership,andmanagementskills.He/sheshouldhaveatleast10yearsexperienceinresearchandmanagementinacademiaor the privatesector.

Highinterestandexperienceinexistingandemergingtechnologyplatformsisstronglyrecommended.Someexperiencewith Europeanfundingschemesisappreciated.ThecandidateisexpectedtobefluentinEnglishandGerman.Thispositionoffersa competitiveexecutivecompensationpackageonagrowingandvibrantcampus.
