One or two postdoctoral positions are currently available in the Structural Lipidology Laboratory of Dr. Ren, Ruobing (*http://sse.cuhk.edu.cn/zh-hans/node/4706 <http://sse.cuhk.edu.cn/zh-hans/node/4706>*) at School of Science and Engineering, Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), China. Our research interests is to understand the mechanism of neutral lipid, free fatty acid and steroid hormone sensing, transporting and metabolism using a combination of state-of-the-art structural (X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM) and biochemical/biophysical techniques (Sicence, 2015; Cell Res.,2015; JBC, 2012). Our research also comprises of drug discovery in collaboration with top pharmaceutical companies to commercialize innovative drugs for receptors and other membrane targets. We offer an internationally competitive salary and benefits based on seniority as agreed by the policy of CUHK and KIIDD. Shenzhen government and Longgang district will also provide additional postdoctoral fellowship for Chinese nationals. The successful candidate should have (or expect to get within half year) a Ph.D. in molecular biology, protein chemistry, structural biology, lipidology or a related discipline, with strong track record as evidenced by first author publications. Experience in native or recombinant membrane protein expression, purification, either structural determination or functional analysis using biochemical and biophysical techniques are prerequisites. Experience in protein X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM is an advantage. Candidates should have the passion to solve scientific problems by creative approaches, ability to work in a team as well as contribute to supervision activities and excellent verbal and written communication skills are expected.
