Hello all,

The Pacific Northwest Center for Cryo-EM (PNCC<http://pncc.labworks.org/>) is a
state-of-the-art electron microscopy user facility recently funded by the
NIH<https://www.nih.gov/> Common Fund and operated jointly by Oregon Health &
Sciences University (OHSU<https://www.ohsu.edu/>) and the Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory (PNNL<https://www.pnnl.gov/>). Our mission is to service
researchers from a diverse range of backgrounds to tackle the most challenging
scientific problems and train the next generation of cryo-electron microscopy
specialists and researchers.

Multiple levels of service and access are available at PNCC that correspond
with the type of analysis or training desired by the user. We would like to
announce a call for user proposals starting August 1st 2018 and will start
receiving samples and users in November. This first call will provide
instrument time on our Arctica 200 keV cryo-TEM outfitted with a K2 Gatan
direct-electron detector. An additional 3 Krios are expected to be brought
on-line in the summer of 2019.

Interested potential PNCC users should submit their proposals through the PNCC
User Portal<https://eus.emsl.pnl.gov/Portal> hosted by
EMSL<https://www.emsl.pnl.gov/emslweb>, a DOE National User Facility located at
PNNL. An internal and external review committee will review each proposal to
assess feasibility and estimate required resources (i.e., staff and
instrumentation). The result of this review will be communicated to users
directly, and if time is awarded, a link will be provided for scheduling. All
proposals will be granted based on scientific merit with a strong emphasis on
technical feasibility and sample suitability.

For those interested in cryo-EM career options, the PNCC is also recruiting
enthusiastic scientists at all ranks (Research Assistant 2, Senior Research
Assistant, Research Associate and Senior Research Associate). For more
information please go to the OHSU jobs website
(https://www.ohsu.edu/xd/about/services/human-resources/) and look for Job
postings IDs IRC71118, IRC72211, IRC72212 and IRC72213.

For more information please contact Dr. Claudia López
([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>).

Sincerely,
Craig Yoshioka and Claudia López (PNCC Co-Directors)
