A postdoctoral fellowship appointment is available in the Lemieux lab in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. The successful applicant will conduct research on *membrane embedded enzymes*. This work will be conducted with a strong multidisciplinary team at the University of Alberta and abroad (our lab is part of an International Research Training Group with labs in Germany). This position is available January 2019. The Lemieux lab is part of the Membrane Protein Disease Research Group that, besides fostering a strong network of labs working on membrane proteins, provides professional development career skills classes.
· The candidate should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or similar field. · Experience in protein purification, membrane protein purification, X-ray crystallography, and/or cryoEM is desired. · Experience with mass spectrometry, microscale thermophoresis, SPR, and thermal shift assays would be an added benefit. The successful candidate should be able to conduct research independently, analyze and interpret data, and write journal articles, as well as should be able to work in a large research group and assist/mentor graduate students.
