Molecular mechanisms of meiotic recombination

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Luca Pellegrini in
the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Cambridge, to work on
meiotic recombination, the cellular process responsible for generation of
sexual diversity and fertility. The project focuses on the molecular mechanisms
that establish the functional architecture of meiotic chromosomes and promote
strand exchange between parental DNA (Syrjänen et al., eLife, 2014; Syrjänen et
al., eLife, 2017).

Suitable candidates will hold or be about to receive a PhD in Biochemistry,
Biophysics or Molecular Biology. They will be highly motivated to pursue an
exciting and challenging project in basic research, and will be able to
demonstrate an excellent track record of relevant achievements. Experience in
the biochemical reconstitution and biophysical analysis of macromolecular
complexes is important. In addition, familiarity with experimental methods in
cryo-electron tomography would be an advantage.

The position is available from June 2019, and is funded for three years in the
first instance. Applicants should submit a CV with list of relevant
publications, a cover letter explaining why they are suitable for the position
and the contact details of at least two referees.
