Dear all,

The laboratory of Hiro Furukawa at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is
seeking a postdoctoral fellow with dynamic interests in solving questions in
molecular neuroscience and neurological diseases using multidisciplinary
approaches. Our group currently conducts structural biology
(cryo-EM/crystallography) on cell surface receptors and ion channels to gain
mechanistic insights and develops reagents against those membrane proteins
(e.g. small compounds and antibodies) to regulate neuronal functions for
research and therapy. We use diverse techniques to analyze functions including
patch-clamp/bilayer electrophysiology, fluorescence imaging, calorimetry, and
phage/yeast display. We have an access to the state-of-the-art equipment
including Titan-KRIOS 300 Kev electron microscope/K2-GIF detector (soon to be
upgraded to K3-GIF) at CSHL, crystallography tools such as Mosquito LCP and
Dragon fly, frequent access to synchrotron light sources including NSLS-II and
excellent facility for phage/yeast display, proteomics, and light microscopy.
CSHL offers a unique scientific environment to interact with scientists within
the institute as well as from outside at the prestigious CSHL courses and
meetings (including courses on the X-ray Methods in Structural Biology,
Cryo-EM, and Ion channels). The Furukawa lab has a good recent track-record for
educating/promoting postdocs to assistant professors in academia and equivalent
positions in industry. A qualified candidate should hold or soon expect to hold
(within ~1 yr) Ph.D. in the area of structural biology, biochemistry, molecular
biology, computational biology, molecular neuroscience/electrophysiology
(patch-clamp, imaging, etc), or related fields. Please visit our website
(https://www.cshl.edu/research/faculty-staff/hiro-furukawa/) to read and learn
about the lab. Please send a CV with a brief research statement as well as 2-3
contacts for references to Hiro Furukawa at [email protected].

Thank you.

Hiro
