Job description:

Two postdoctoral research associate positions in enzymology for two separated
projects are immediately available in the laboratories of Dr. Robert Hausinger
(Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics) and Dr. Jian Hu (Department
of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology) at Michigan State University. Our
NSF-supported project focuses on the Fe(II)/2-oxoglutate oxygenase catalyzing
the dual reactions of ethylene biosynthesis and L-Arg hydroxylation
(Biochemistry 55:5989, 2016; JACS 139:11980, 2018). Our second project,
supported by NIH, focuses on biosynthesis of the nickel-pincer nucleotide
cofactor and its use in catalyzing racemase or epimerase reactions (Science
349:66, 2015; PNAS 113:5598, 2016; PNAS 114:9074, 2017; Biochemistry 57:3244,
2018; JBC 293:12303, 2018; Biochemistry 57:5513, 2018).

For both projects, the successful candidate must be highly self-motivated and
have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or a related field
with demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, protein purification, and
enzyme characterization. Experience in crystallography is highly desired. The
positions will be initially available for one year, with possible renewal based
on mutual satisfaction. The first position has been posted at careers.msu.edu
as position #593854
(http://careers.msu.edu/cw/en-us/job/502028/research-associatefixed-term) and
we will be posting the second position soon. Meanwhile, potential applicants
can contact Dr. Hausinger ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>) and Dr.
Hu ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>) directly to obtain further details
or to provide us with their CV and names of 3 references.
