Hello Fellow CCP4er’s,

I am posting this for a colleague. Please contact Dr. Breeanna Urbanowicz
([email protected]) with any questions. Thank you.

The Urbanowicz Lab at the University of Georgia's Complex Carbohydrate Research
Center (www.ccrc.uga.edu) is looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to
carry out a research project in plant cell wall biology investigating
structure/function of carbohydrate active enzymes. Successful applicants will
join a multi-disciplinary team comprised of scientists from the Complex
Carbohydrate Research Center and the New Materials Institute together to pursue
research funded by the DOE Center for Bioenergy Innovation
(https://cbi.ornl.gov) and the DOE Center for Plant and Microbial
Carbohydrates. The position is available as early as March 1st, 2020 and comes
with a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, plant biology or a
related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who have hands-on
experience with heterologous expression and purification of recombinant
proteins. Strong communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English
are essential as is the ability to work in a collaborative scientific
environment.

Candidates should submit their applications as a single PDF document by email
to Breeanna Urbanowicz ([email protected]). The document must contain: (i) a
cover letter describing their research interests, career goals and motivation
for the position, (ii) a current CV, and (iii) the names and contact
information for three individuals willing to provide professional letters of
support.

For further information, please contact Dr. Breeanna Urbanowicz
([email protected]) with questions related to these exact positions.

Dr. Breeanna Urbanowicz completed her PhD at Cornell University and is
currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia. She is faculty member of UGA’s
Complex Carbohydrate Research Center and New Materials Institute and is a
project leader in the US-DOE Center for Bioenergy Innovation (CBI), the US-DOE
Center of Plant and Microbial Carbohydrates, and the NSF-funded Center for
Bioplastics and Biocomposites (CB2). Her core research is centered on the
structure, biosynthesis and biological function of the plant cell wall, a
cellular component that is integral to many facets of plant biology. The tools
and approaches developed are paving the path forward toward deeper analysis of
glycopolymer synthesis and deconstruction pathways used by plants and other
organisms, and are now being applied towards the development of new bio-based
plastics and coatings.

Best regards,

Z
