Hi Sam,

There is no problem with this: CCP-EM is designed to work with CCP4. In fact
many of the CCP-EM tasks (such as Refmac) require programs supplied by CCP4, so
it’s useful to have both installed.

Both packages do supply a version of Coot. They shouldn’t interfere with each
other, but if you’re running it from the command line you might need to take a
little care to get the version you want. You can check which version will be
used by typing ‘which coot’, or looking in the title bar of the Coot window.
The version used will be the one that was set up more recently – if you set up
CCP4 first followed by CCP-EM you’ll get the CCP-EM version, and vice versa.

I should also point out that we have a separate CCP-EM mailing list, so if you
do run into any problems or you have any other questions about CCP-EM, please
direct them there: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/CCPEM

Best wishes,
Colin

Subject: [ccp4bb] ccp4 and ccpEM on same workstation?

Hi,

I'm going to install ccpEM on a same fedora 30 workstation that already has
ccp4.... will they touch on my pre-existing Coot and Refmac setup?

Maybe I'm just worrying too much......?

Cheers

Sam
