Postdoctoral positions in membrane protein structural biology are immediately available in the Tajima Lab, in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. We seek self-motivated and creative structural biologists.
We focus on 1. understanding the molecular mechanisms of ion channels that play a pivotal role in synaptic transmission. 2. dissecting the signaling pathways in the CNS in health and disease. 3. structure-based drug discovery. These issues will be addressed using a multidisciplinary approach, including structural biology, patch-clamp electrophysiology, molecular and cellular biology, and biochemistry/biophysics. Case Western Reserve University is equipped with a state-of-art structural biology facility, including FEI Titan Krios (with phase plate, energy filter, and a K3 detector), FEI Tecnai TF20 & T12 screening microscopes, and the high-performance data analysis infrastructure. The department also has core facilities for protein expression/purification, X-ray crystallography, proteomics&mass spectrometry, and electrophysiology. The successful candidates will enjoy a collaborative environment with cutting-edge instruments. Applicants should hold (or will be shortly awarded) a PhD degree and have experience in molecular biology and protein purification. Experience in single-particle Cryo-EM/X-ray crystallography is probably a better fit for this position. Please send a cover letter describing research interests, a CV, and contact information for 2-3 references to Nami Tajima at [email protected].
