Professorship (W 2) of Structural Bioinformatics

The Faculty of Biology and Pre-Clinical Medicine at the Regensburg Center for
Biochemistry invites applications for a professorship of structural
bioinformatics (grade W 2, civil servant for life) to be appointed as soon as
possible. The professorship shall complement the focus of the Faculty and the
Regensburg Center for Biochemistry in the field of structural biology through
the bioinformatic analysis of cellular macromolecules. In addition, a
strengthening of the existing collaborative research areas of the faculty is
desirable, in particular of the SFB 960. The call for applications is aimed at
highly qualified scientists with an excellent publication record and
third-party funding. The field of bioinformatics is to be represented in
teaching as part of the bachelor's and master's degrees in biology and
biochemistry.

Prerequisites for taking up the position are alongside the general conditions
from public sector employment law, a completed university degree, pedagogic
suitability, and particular aptitude for academic work, generally shown by a
doctoral degree, as well as additional scientific achievements proven by a
habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements, which can also be performed
outside the university area, or as part of a junior professorship.

Universität Regensburg is particularly committed to reconciling family and
working life (for more information, see www.uni-regensburg.de/chancengleichheit
<http://www.uni-regensburg.de/chancengleichheit>). To fulfill the equality
directive and increase the number of female professors, we explicitly encourage
applications from qualified women.

In case of essentially similar suitability, applicants with severe disabilities
will be preferentially selected. The prerequisites for appointment under civil
servant law are based on the provisions of the Bavarian Public Service Code
(BayBG) and the Bavarian University Staff Act (BayHSchPG). The age limit of
Art. 10 Para. 3 BayHSchPG must be observed.

Applications with the usual documents (curriculum vitae, certificates,
certificates, list of publications with the most important offprints, research
plan, teaching concept) are to be sent electronically by May 3, 2021 to the
dean of the Faculty of Biology and Pre-Clinical Medicine ([email protected])
of Regensburg University, D-93040 Regensburg. Information on data protection
can be found at https://www.uni-regensburg.de/datenschutz/
