Postdoc/Beamline Scientist (m/f/d)

The Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) group at the HZB is operating and 
developing three beamlines for MX at the BESSY II storage ring for the national 
and international user community. The MX-group is also in charge of the 
HZB-MX-BioLab and it carries out research projects on several structural 
biology aspects. You will enrich our group in carrying out and developing our 
experimental infrastructure as well as do research for your own projects.
Your tasks will be

  *   Set-up, operation and further development of the experiments for 
Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) at BESSY II
  *   Planning and coordination of experiments with external users and 
scientists at HZB
  *   Conducting and analysing diffraction experiments on biological 
macromolecules
  *   Carrying out own and collaborative research projects
  *   Determination of the structure-function relationship of biological 
macromolecules
  *   Development of new methods and experiments for MX
  *   Training and knowledge dissemination (supervision of students and PhD 
students, support in organising and conducting workshops and conferences)

Your profile

  *   Successfully completed university studies in the natural sciences 
(biology, chemistry or physics) with a PhD
  *   Experience in experiments with synchrotron radiation
  *   Experiences in the construction, operation and further development of 
experimental stations for macromolecular crystallography
  *   Demonstrated knowledge of the workflows for MX experiments
  *   Knowledge of software for instrument control

Fixed term contract for 36 months. The salary is based on the Collective 
Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
