We are looking for a bright and motivated candidate for a PhD studentship at Elettra (Trieste, Italy) within a Marie Skłodowska Curie Action ETN grant on “DNA helicases in genome maintenance: from molecular and cellular mechanisms to specific inhibitors as potential drugs”. The position is to study the structure and function of RecQ helicase, and will involve a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry, structural and cell biology.
The project has already started, but in two consecutive hiring exercises we had selected two non-european candidates, and in both cases as soon as we offered the position and the bureaucracy started their country entered a Covid emergency phase, with the result that the whole process was frozen for many months, while waiting for consulates and embassies to get their acts together. However, the grant will fully cover the 3-year position. I enclose an advert, and would be glad if you could circulate it among students and researchers in your university.
