Dear all, We are looking for a Post doc to work on structure-based generation of stabilised peptides mimicking proteins involved in cell signalling. The Post doc will be based at AstraZeneca Gothenburg, Sweden, working with myself and Dr. Anais Noisier and in collaboration with Prof. David Craik at the University of Queensland, Australia.
The goal of this postdoctoral project is to generate conformationally stable protein-mimetic peptides capable of modulating the formation of multi-protein complexes involved in cell signaling. Protein-Protein Interactions (PPI) are important in the regulation of signaling pathways and modulation of PPI is a long-standing challenge in drug discovery. One strategy which has shown particular promise is the use of new chemical modalities such as protein-mimetic peptides. You will employ structure-based design to generate drug-like peptides as potential treatment for diseases related to malfunctioning cell signaling. The peptide-protein interactions will be characterized using X-ray crystallography and biophysical methods. The candidate should have a strong background in: * X-ray crystallography * Synthesis, purification and characterization of peptides * Molecular biology and protein purification skills needed to produce high quality protein * Proven record of work published in peer-reviewed scientific journals Preferably all of the above, but strong experience in one and willingness to learn new methods will suffice. Since the successful applicant is expected to perform most of the experimental work, relevant laboratory experience is absolutely required.
