*Initially limited to August 31st, 2024.* The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University(TV-G-U). We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified structural biologist with experience in protein purification and characterization as well as protein crystallography. *Your profile:* You have a university degree in pharmacy, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, or in a comparable natural science as well as a completed PhD. Furthermore, you have profound knowledge in applying biochemical and structural biological methods and you have already gained experience in protein crystallography. You are familiar with common biophysical methods of protein characterization and are used to working in an interdisciplinary environment. Experience of working with proteases is a plus. Experience working in an English-speaking foreign/international laboratory is desired and excellent English language skills are required. You are used to working in an interdisciplinary and international environment and have a proactive approach, then don’t hesitate to apply! *We offer *an exciting job in an international university research institute at the Riedberg Campus, an exciting position embedded in an interdisciplinary, highly stimulating and international research environment at the life science campus Riedberg, salary according to TV-G-U and the Landesticket 2022. The position is embedded in the *Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC)*, a not-for-profit, public-private partnership encompassing 8 pharmaceutical companies that conducts pre-competitive research to facilitate the discovery of new medicines. Based at several additional international universities (Stockholm, Toronto, Chapel Hill, Campinas) the SGC's work contributes to new hypotheses in understanding and treating human disease, and the subsequent identification of new targets for drug discovery. The SGC is committed to Open Science, sharing knowledge, data and reagents, which has led to a collaborative network of more than 250 international partners. The project is part of the Target 2035 initiative, an international science federation with the goal to develop small molecule inhibitors for the human proteome. The first step is the IMI project EUbOPEN, an Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) funded project, which aims to generate specific chemical probes and assemble an open access chemogenomic library of well annotated compounds covering roughly 1,000 different proteins and test them in biological assays.
