The CEA-Grenoble is looking for an experienced crystallographer to
oversee the operation of the French CRG beamline FIP2 located at the
ESRF. The position is part of the Synchrotron research group of the IBS.
BM07-FIP2 has been rebuilt from BM30A-FIP during the EBS machine upgrade
of the ESRF, and is operational since Oct. 1st, 2021. FIP2 is a tuneable
energy beamline based on a 2-pole wiggler, which produces a photon flux
of ~10E+12 ph/s in a top-hat beam of 200x200 microns^2. It is equipped
with a cryogenic sample changer based on a robot arm, which can also be
used to screen crystallisation plates. Additional ancillary equipment
like a UV-vis absorption microspectrophotometer can be mounted, for
instance to obtain spectroscopic data collected before, during and/or
after a diffraction experiment.
The beamline scientist will be responsible for the operation and
development of the beamline, whose mission is to serve the French
biological crystallography community (67%), as well as the international
users of the ESRF (33%). He/she will lead and supervise a medium-size
team, supervise maintenance, develop new instrumentation and
methodological developments, schedule user experiments and organize
technical and scientific user support. In addition to beamline
operation, he/she will develop his/her own research project taking full
advantage of the beamline.
