JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior Scientist, Crystallography at CHARM Therapeutics, Cambridge, UK.

CHARM Therapeutics is a biotech company focused on delivering transformational
medicines that will address difficult-to-drug targets in key oncogenic pathways.

CHARM has developed the first highly accurate, high throughput protein-ligand
co-folding algorithm (DragonFold), driven by end-to-end 3D deep learning. Our
platform enables the rapid generation of highly differentiated clinical
candidates, and our ambition is to revolutionise drug discovery.

CHARM Therapeutics is establishing a state-of-the-art R&D facility in
Cambridge, UK. We are seeking an exceptional protein crystallographer with a
passion for scientific innovation. The successful candidate will join a
multidisciplinary, highly collaborative discovery team to invent novel
medicines and drive them towards the clinic.

Role

We are currently seeking an experienced protein crystallographer to join the
structural sciences group at CHARM Therapeutics working on high throughput
crystallographic structure determination to fully enable and drive multiple
SBDD campaigns.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to meet the following criteria:

A PhD level qualification in protein crystallography, or a related discipline,
is required.

Additional previous experience in an industrial / biotech setting would be
preferred.

Familiarity with cloning, expressing and purifying multiple target proteins
from recombinant systems (both bacterial and eukaryotic) specifically in
oncology, alongside higher molecular weight complexes and integral membrane
proteins for structural and biophysical analysis.

Extensive expertise in setting up and optimising vapour diffusion
crystallisation experiments.

Experience in fragment screening approaches, including crystallographic
fragment screening.

Expertise in collecting and processing X-ray diffraction data from various
synchrotron sources across the world.

Ability to solve and refine crystallographic structures including expertise in
using CCP4, Global Phasing and Phenix crystallographic software suites.

Deep understanding of SM / NCE ligand chemical restraint definition and
subsequent ligand co-structure refinement.

Demonstrated proficiency in shell scripting and experience in developing
pipelines to handle large scale diffraction data processing.

Experience with PanDDA approaches for data processing would be beneficial.

Proven track record in presenting results (both written and verbal) to internal
and external audiences.
